JACKSON -- The Jackson Municipal Band will have its weekly concert at 8 p.m. Thursday and a special performance at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 4.
Both concerts will be performed in the Jackson City Park band shell.
The weekly concert will feature special guests Fiesta de Musica!, the children's choir from SEMO Music Academy. Thirty young musicians, ages 5-11, are in the choir. Directors for the group are Pam Dumey and Lori Shaffer.
In their debut performance, the choir will sing several folk songs, accompanying themselves on small xylophones.
The municipal band's portion of the concert will include Sousa's "Gallent Seventh," "Let the Spirit Soar," "Puttin' on the Ritz," selections from "The Lion King" and other tunes.
The Independence Day concert will feature Robyn Hosp, who has performed in Nashville, Tenn., as a soloist and with groups. Her program will consist of several contemporary gospel numbers and other favorites.
The band's portion of the concert will include a collection of patriotic tunes and some Irving Berlin songs.
