The Jackson Ministerial Alliance's mission is to provide benevolent aid to local needs and transient people in Jackson and the surrounding area. The needs include gasoline for vehicles, bus tickets, food, lodging, utilities and medicine.
In 1990 the Alliance handled 139 cases. The organization spent $976 in travel assistance, $987 for food and medicine, and $678 for lodging.
In 1989 there were 198 cases and the needs included $820.96 in travel assistance, $970 for food and medicine, and $555 for lodging and utilities.
Assistance is given to anyone who needs it.
Among its past programs are working with high school leaders to offer transportation assistance to students attending special education and prevention workshops on topics such as drugs and AIDS.
