Jackson man struck, killed Sunday on U.S. 61

A 28-year-old Jackson man was hit by a car and killed while walking along U.S. 61 near Jackson late Sunday night, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Web site.

Adrian L. Garcia was struck by a vehicle as he was walking in the roadway on U.S. 61 one mile north of Jackson about 9:42 p.m., the highway patrol reported. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:05 p.m. The driver who hit Garcia traveled off the roadway and struck an embankment, but was uninjured.
