JACKSON -- Children are invited to Leap Into Books this summer at the Jackson Public Library.

Children from preschool age through fifth grade may register in the library's reading and activity programs on May 20 at 9 a.m. Registration for the reading portion of the program continues through July 1. Registration for the activities are first come first served until the programs are filled.

The reading program includes a number of incentives and prized to encourage children to read or have books read to them. Grand prize is two bicycles.

Activities planned at the library include a scuba diving demonstration June 10, a live reptile and amphibian demonstration June 17; exotic musical instruments from around the world July 1, an insect demonstration July 8, rocks and minerals July 15, Mississippian Indian arrowheads and animal bowls July 22.

All activities are planned from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
