JACKSON, Mo. -- Timothy Allen Wright, an on-call firefighter with the Jackson Fire Department, has filed to run for Ward 1 alderman in the April election.

Wright works for Alliance Food Service as a route driver and also is employed by the Show Me Center in security. He also is a paid on-call firefighter with the Jackson Fire Department.

He is single and the president of the Jackson Jaycees.

Wright said he is running for alderman "to get more involved in the community, to give something back to the community of Jackson."

Wright is vying for the seat being vacated by David Hitt, who decided not to run again after serving his fourth term.

So far, incumbents Kerry Hoffman in Ward 2, Valerie Tuschoff in Ward 3 and Larry Hall in Ward 4 are the only candidates to file other than Wright.

Candidates have until Jan. 16 to file for the election.
