The Jacksonian Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association awarded a total of $1,500 in scholarship money to local women planning to attend Southeast Missouri State University this fall.
The money was awarded at the A.B.W.A.'s May 25 meeting.
Those receiving scholarship money were Cara Heise of Jackson, $1,000; Donna Eakins of Cape Girardeau, $300 and Heidi Griswold of Jackson, $200.
The scholarship recipients had to meet criteria set by the A.B.W.A., but was not limited to grade point average or being a resident of Cape Girardeau County.
Money for the Scholarship and Education Fund is raised through the organizations fund raising events, including the Children's FunFest, the White Elephant Auction and the Miss Jackson Pageants.
Certificates were awarded to the scholarship recipients by Pearla Murphy, education chairperson.
The American Business Women's Association is a national organization dedicated to providing business training for women of diverse backgrounds through education for career advancement and personal development.
