Action Items

Established and approved the 2003 tax rates.

Set a public hearing for Tuesday, Sept. 2 to discuss the city's submission of an application to the state of Missouri for the community development block grant program, relative to specific priorities for community development disaster recovery needs.

Approved a resolution amending and restating the city of Jackson Flexible Benefit Plan.

Authorized a matching expenditure, not to exceed $15,000, in association with the Jackson Reorganized School District R-II, relative to the preparation of a YMCA feasibility study.

Accepted the proposal of the Southeast Missouri Regional Planning and Economic Development Commission, of Perryville, Mo., in the amount of $8,500, relative to grant administration services under the Jackson Soccer Park project.

Authorized a contractual agreement with the Southeast Missouri Regional Planning and Economic Development Commission, relative to providing grant administration services under the Jackson Soccer Park project.

Authorized a contractual agreement with Horner & Shifrin, Inc., of St. Louis, relative to Authorizations No. 9 and 10 -- amendments No. 1 -- for additional inspection services under the Goose Creek and East Main Street interceptor sewer projects.

Accepted the bid of Overhead Door Company of Southeast Missouri Inc. of Jackson, in the amount of $24,486, relative to window and door installations under the electric distribution department maintenance building project.

Authorized a contractual agreement with Overhead Door Company of Southeast Missouri Inc. of Jackson, relative to window and door installations under the electric distribution department maintenance building project.

Approved the abandonment of a portion of East Madison Street.

Voted down a motion proposing the abandonment of South Ohio Street between East Madison and East Monroe streets.

Approved amendments to the land subdivision regulation, relative to additional street pavement widths.

Tabled the rezoning of lots No. 6, 7 and 8 of Running Ridge Subdivision (563 and 581 Broadridge Drive), from R-3, general residential district, to O-1 (professional office) district, as submitted by Calvary United Pentecostal Church.

Approved the rezoning of 1517 West Jackson Boulevard from R-2 (single family residential) district to C-2 (general commercial) district, as submitted by Dave and Sandy Miller.

Accepted a quit claim deed from the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission, relative to the acceptance of property under the Highway 34/72 improvement project.

Granted general warranty deeds to the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission, relative to the acceptance of property under the Highway 34/72 improvement project.
