Power and light committee

-- Approved the semi-annual financial statement ending June 30, 1997 and to publish it in the local newspapers.

-- Authorized quarterly payment of $5,500 to the Cape Girardeau Area Industrial Recruitment Association for services provided.

-- Accepted a proposal of the Eastern Missouri Industries, Inc., relative to boring and placement of underground duct and or electrical conductors.

-- Approved ordinance authorizing a contractual agreement with Eastern Missouri Industries, Inc., relative to boring and placement of underground duet and or electrical conductors.

-- Authorized payment of $4,000 to the Jackson Chamber of Commerce relative to services provided by the Chamber's Small Business Recruitment Program.

-- Approved appointment of W.M. "Wilburn" Proffer to fill an unexpired term on the Planning and Zoning Commission until May 1998.

-- Approved ordinance accepting dedication of easement for the construction, maintenance and repair of sanitary sewer lines from Larry L. and Shirley J. Bock.

-- Approved ordinance accepting dedication of easement for the construction, maintenance and repair of a water line from Stone Manes, Trustee of the Stone Manes Revocable Trust.

-- Approved motion accepting low bid of Monroe Plumbing and Heating Co. Inc. in the amount of $201,389 on the Water Line Extension Phase 4 Project.

-- Approved ordinance authorizing contractual agreement with Monroe Plumbing and Heating Co. Inc. relative to the Water Line Extension Phase 4 Project.

-- Set a public hearing to consider the 1997 tax rate for Monday, Aug. 18 at 7:30 p.m.

-- Approved ordinance authorizing a contractual agreement with the Missouri Department of Transportation relative to the city's participation in the department's transportation enhancement funds program.
