Jackson begins series of pavement improvements

The city of Jackson's annual asphalt pavement improvement program is underway.

Carroll Knox Drive, near the city park and Highway Patrol Armory, will remain closed Tuesday.

Old Cape Road East will be partially closed Sept. 21 and 22, and Old Cape Road will be closed between Gloria and June Lane from Sept. 26 to 30.

The city will post signs in advance of the closures, and traffic from Old Cape Road is scheduled to be detoured to East Jackson Boulevard.

The overflow lot at the Civic Center is complete, and crews will be working on the improvements to Symphony Drive near the municipal band shell, weather permitting.

The city urges drivers and pedestrians to exercise caution around work areas.
