JACKSON BAND PLAYS THURSDAY

JACKSON -- The Jackson Municipal Band will hold its weekly concert Thursday at 8 p.m. at the band shell in the Jackson City Park.

Special guest is Diana Green, a 1987 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University where she performed as a soloist with the University Choir.

The band's portion of the concert will include "A Mighty Fortress," a collection of several marches written by Henry Mancini, Sousa's "Liberty Bell," "Ye Banks and Braes of Bonnie Doon," several hits by Cole Porter, "Jazz-a-ma-taz," "Lichenesteiner Polka," and many more.

The concert is free. Those attending are asked to bring a lawn chair. Nick Leist directs the band.
