Schools participating at the Jackson festival include Cape Girardeau, Scott City, Oak Ridge, Woodland, Kelly, Bell City, Puxico, East Prairie, Bloomfield, Chaffee, Greenville, Delta, Scott County Central, Charleston, Sikeston, Advance, and Jackson. Special guest band is Southeast Missouri State University's Golden Eagle Marching Band.

The mass band portion of the program will honor Harold Lichtenegger, long-time band director at Puxico.

The marching festival was started in the 1940s by Jackson Band director Leroy Mason, who wanted to establish a non-competitive marching event for Southeast Missouri bands.

Today, the festival has grown so large that there are four sites. Perryville, Kennett and Jackson are hosting festivals on Oct. 5 and Poplar Bluff will host a festival Oct. 15.
