The Jackson Board of Aldermen will discuss the Fruitland annexation petition at its study session tonight following the regular meeting. Jackson Mayor Barbara Lohr said she expects the city will express interest in annexing part of the area outlined in the petition and discuss with Fruitland residents procedures for annexation should the city decide to move forward. Fruitland residents attended the board's July 5 meeting and requested the city speed up its decision on the petition, which was submitted in December, so residents could make their plans for incorporating Fruitland as its own city.
Other discussion items for the study session include an update on the 810 Emma Street project, participation in the Missouri Sales Tax Holiday and ward redistricting.
During the regular meeting, two public hearings will be held to consider requested rezoning of two areas.
First will be a consideration of rezoning 417 and 425 South Farmington Road from a single-family residential district to a general commercial district. Second, a consideration to rezone all of Savannah Ridge Subdivision, Phase 6, from a single-family residential district to a one and two-family residential district.
The regular session begins at 7:30 p.m. and the study session begins at 8 p.m. in the aldermen's chamber at Jackson City Hall.
