SEDALIA, Mo. -- A central Missouri inmate who has been missing for nearly a week is back in custody after being caught while asleep on a couch in a Sedalia home. Pettis County Sheriff's Capt. Dave Keller told the Sedalia Democrat 29-year-old Brandon McGee was captured shortly after 6 a.m. Wednesday. McGee was being held on three counts of fraudulent use of a credit device when he broke off a shower faceplate at the Pettis County Jail on July 24 and slipped through an opening in the wall. Prosecutors charged McGee with one count of escape Friday. He also was awaiting trial on two no-bond probation violation warrants from Benton and Morgan counties. He is the first person to escape the Pettis County Jail since it was built in 2000.
