An infant was shot and killed during a domestic disturbance at 2:30 a.m. Monday, Cape Girardeau police said.
Sgt. Rick Schmidt, a public information officer for the police department, said shots were fired during the domestic disturbance, but not by police officers.
The incident occurred on Green Acres Drive.
Schmidt said late Monday morning that he did not know the gender of the infant.
Police were waiting to speak to the Cape Girardeau County prosecutor's office before releasing any more details, Schmidt said.
