PERRYVILLE -- Only one race is contested in Perry County Municipal Elections Tuesday.

Three candidates -- Dennis R. Martin, Carol Laws and Diane K. Edwards -- are on the Perry County School District Number 32 ballots, vying for two three-year positions.

All other city, schools, town and village elections are unopposed.

In Perryville city elections, Robert J. Miget is unopposed for his fifth term as mayor; Wilma Weinkein is the only candidate for city collector; Eugene Besand is unopposed for city marshal and Robert Hershey is unopposed for municipal judge, a post he has held for 19 years.

Perryville Aldermen also unopposed -- Roger F. Prost in Ward I, Bill Bergman in Ward II and Paul R. "Butch" Flentge in Ward III.

At Altenburg, aldermen James Palisch (Ward I) and Norbert Meyr (Ward II) are unopposed, along with two District 48 school board candidates, Gary Sachs and Mary Hunt.

Nick Buchheit and Rudy Buchheit are the only two candidates for two trustee positions at Biehle. At Long Town, two trustee candidates, Dave Geringer and Roy Lohmann, are unopposed for two positions.

Incumbent Marvin School will return to his mayor's position at Frohna, along with Ward I Alderman William Koeber and Ward II Alderman Thomas Unger.

A portion of Cape Girardeau R-VI School District (Oak Ridge) is in Perry County. There is no contest, however. Richard L. Baer and Stephen J. Schonhoff are the only candidates for two positions.

This is not the case, however, in School District No. R-1 of Madison County, which will include a few Perry County voters. Three candidates -- Arthur Myers, Don Reagan and Shelby R. Barnhart -- are vying for two positions.
