The U.S. attorney's office released the following information Tuesday for defendants who appeared before U.S. District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh Jr.

Charges: Re-entry into the United States without permission of the attorney general.

Summary: Cruz-Guzman was arrested by Cape Girardeau police March 12 for resisting a lawful stop and driving while intoxicated. On March 21, he pleaded guilty to these charges in the Circuit Court of Cape Girardeau County. Cruz-Guzman was born in Mexico on April 22, 1980, and was illegally present in the United States on March 12. He had been removed from the United States to Mexico on Jan. 21, 2005, from the port of Paso Del Norte Bridge in Texas.

Cruz-Guzman faces a maximum punishment of two years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing is set for Sept. 4.
