Age: 33

Charges: unlawful possession of a firearm

Sentence: 56 months

Summary: On Sept. 19, Cape Girardeau County deputies were called to a residence on Willow Ridge Drive in Cape Girardeau County in response to a report of an assault. When the officers arrived, they saw Nunley standing on a flight of stairs. Nunley told the officers that a firearm was under the mattress in his bedroom. Officers seized the firearm, a Hi-Point, .45 ACP caliber pistol, with one round in the chamber and eight rounds in the clip. Nunley admitted that the firearm was his. Due to Nunley's felony convictions for possession of cocaine in 2000 and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute in 2005, he is prohibited from possessing firearms. This case was investigated by the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. attorney Keith D. Sorrell handled the prosecution for the government.
