In federal court: Cape man pleads guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm

The U.S. attorney's office released the following information Monday for defendants who appeared before U.S. District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh, Jr.

PLEADED GUILTY

Name: Ricky Mixon

Residence: Cape Girardeau

Charges: Being a felon in possession of a firearm

Summary: Mixon was arrested after a Cape Girardeau police officer observed him hiding a 9 mm pistol in the return of an unused soda machine. The firearm was recovered. Mixon was previously convicted of burglary and a prior federal charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He faces a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing is set for Aug. 6.
