The following information was released by the office of federal prosecutor Catherine Hanaway for defendants who appeared in federal court Tuesday before U.S. District Judge Rodney W. Sippel.
Name: George C. Banks
Age: 44
Residence: Kennett, Mo.
Charge: Felon in possession of a firearm.
Sentence: 180 months in prison.
Details: On June 25, 2003, Banks walked outside his home with a 12-gauge shotgun because of a quarrel between himself and another person. Responding officers found the gun, which Banks admitted was his, behind a chest of drawers in his bedroom.
PLEADED GUILTY
Name: Barrett Swan
Age: 22
Residence: Cape Girardeau
Charge: Felon in possession of a firearm and two counts of distribution of cocaine.
Sentence range: Up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for the gun charge, and up to 30 years in prison and a $2 million fine for the drug charges. Sentencing is Sept. 26.
Details: Swan sold $225 of crack cocaine to a confidential informant on March 16, 2005, and $250 of the drug on April 5, 2005. On July 16, a Cape Girardeau police officer saw him with a semiautomatic handgun Swan later admitted was his.
Name: Dwain T. Vaughn
Age: 24
Residence: Cape Girardeau
Charge: Felon in possession of a firearm, possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
Sentence range: Up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for the gun charge; up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine for the cocaine charge; and up to 10 years in prison and a $500,000 fine for the marijuana. Sentencing is Sept. 26.
Details: During a search of Vaughn's home Feb. 17, 2004, officers found a .38-caliber pistol, a 9 mm pistol, 2.41 grams of crack cocaine and 124.59 grams of marijuana.
