Illinois police probe shooting death
Illinois State Police are investigating a homicide connected with a Saturday shooting along Highway 127 at Sandusky, Ill., in Alexander County, according to Master Sgt. Steve Shields. The shooting was reported to police at about 10 a.m. The victim, Derrick S. Spence, 21, of Tamms, Ill., was taken to Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, where he later died, Shields said. The suspect was taken into custody at about 1 p.m. by the Illinois State Police in Ullin.
Formal charges are pending, Shields said.
