CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Icon Electronics Corp., founded in October of 1989 when the former Lenco Inc. Electronics Division was disbanded, recently acquired the electronics testing equipment from NIC, which purchased the Lenco company during its bankrupt proceedings.
"This new equipment will help us grow at a more rapid rate," said Bob Henson, president of the firm, located at 753 Enterprise. "Lenco had some very elaborate test equipment."
Henson said Icon had to rent some new space for the equipment.
"We only have about 3,000 square feet here," he said.
Icon Electronics, which designs and manufactures television broadcast equipment, was founded by several former Lenco employees.
"We started in a building at 1221 Kingsway here," said Henson. "We moved to our present location in September of last year."
Henson said the firm was "about on target with our goals. We have a lot of experience in the field, and everything is looking good for the future."
Henson was national sales manager for the Lenco Electronics Division.
Ellen Henson is executive vice president of the firm.
Other officers of the company, which worked at Lenco, include:
Jim Timberlake, vice president of operation.
-Rich Fay, vice president-engineering.
-David Frericks, senior design engineer.
-Dave Aufdenberg, customer service manager.
Traci Wren, secretary.
"We have one other employee a part-time person in manufacturing," said Henson.
