SIKESTON, Mo. -- Northbound traffic on Interstate 55 between Benton, Mo., and Scott City, Mo., and traffic on the Mississippi River bridge in Cape Girardeau will be slowed for repairs this week.
Pavement repairs are being made and traffic speeds will be reduced to 45 miles per hour in the work zone on Interstate 55 between Exit 80 and Exit 89. The area will be marked with signs, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation.
Crews will begin working at 7:30 a.m. today and finish by 4 p.m. each day. Work should end Friday.
Maintenance repair work on the Mississippi River bridge will slow traffic to one lane today from noon to 5 p.m. Only one lane of the bridge will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Delays of 10 to 15 minutes are expected. The work should be completed by Nov. 3.
Bridge work on Highway 74 just east of Interstate 55 will cause traffic to be rerouted near the Dutchtown, Mo., exit. The bypass bridge will remain in use until mid-December.
