* Rhodes 101 stores are donating 100 percent of their profits from yesterday's gas sales to the American Red Cross. "We want to challenge the rest of the locations in the area to donate profits as well," said Pajco Inc. co-owner Jim Maurer. "We hope to be handing the Red Cross a check today." Pajco Inc. operates all of the Rhodes 101 stores.
* KRCU 90.9 is joining the National Association of Broadcasters today for an industry-wide effort to raise $100 million for Hurricane Katrina's victims. Radio and TV stations across the country are donating airtime for fund-raising appeals as well as airing Public Service Announcements from the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army. * All Regions Bank locations from Ste. Genevieve to Poplar Bluff will serve as drop-off points for hurricane relief items from now until Sept. 22. Individual banks have been challenged to motivate employees and customers. Of particular need are nonperishable food items, hygiene products, personal care items, new socks and undergarments, towels and linens, school supplies, backpacks, overnight bags, suit cases, work gloves and boots.
