The HGTV show "House Hunters" filmed its first-ever episode in the Cape Girardeau area Sunday.
Few details were available, but the episode is expected to air sometime in spring 2015. Episodes take close to five months to edit, said Daun Margin of Pie Town Productions, which produces many shows for Home & Garden Television, or HGTV.
House Hunters takes viewers behind the scenes as individuals, couples and families learn what to look for and decide whether a home is meant for them.
Focusing on the emotional experience of finding and purchasing a new home, each episode shows the process as buyers search for a home, the show's website said.
Part of the episode was taped at Steele Crest Winery outside Jackson, owned by Terry Steele. However, no news coverage was allowed.
Steele said the producers contacted him last week about filming there.
He did not know who was looking at homes in the area, or where they were from.
The Ivas John Band performed there Sunday, and Steele said he hoped the show would help the band's career.
Based in Carbondale, Illinois, the band plays blues, jazz, soul and honky tonk music, according to its Facebook page.
