The service given to Southeast hospital by volunteers and auxiliary members is a major investment, according to director of volunteer services Marge Nichols Sullivan. Over 400 adult, junior and student volunteers contribute more than 37,000 hours of service to the hospital each year.

In addition to coordinating fund-raising projects that help the hospital buy new equipment and implement new services, volunteers work within Southeast's medical facility as well as with Southeast Hospice, Meals on Wheels and auxiliary crafts.

Highlights of the recognition dinner included the presentation of a $10,000 check, part of the Auxiliary's $90,000 commitment to the recently completed redesign of the Hospital's Dennis B. Elrod, M.D., Obstetrics and Gynecology Center; entertainment by singer, guitarist and songwriter Julie Walker; and the recognition of three new auxiliary life members, Patti Lessmann, Marge Sullivan and Darlene Werner.
