St. Francis Medical Center's sixth annual trauma seminar, "Trauma Care '91," will be held Wednesday.
The day-long seminar will be held as part of the hospital's observance of Emergency Medical Services Week and National Trauma Awareness Month. It starts at 8 a.m. in the St. Francis Health & Education Centre.
Featured speakers will include local cardiothoracic surgeon Louis B. Ostrow and registered nurses Marie Weiss and Adele Moore.
Ostrow heads the St. Francis heart surgery team. Weiss is STAT Flight Education Coordinator at Humana Hospital at the University of Louisville (Ky.). Moore is a neurosurgery nurse clinician at St. Louis University Medical Center.
The program's target audience includes physicians, nurses, and other providers of emergency and critical care. The seminar has been approved for 7.5 contact hours of continuing education units through the Missouri Nurses Association.
Registration fee is $30 for health care professionals and $15 for full-time students. There is no fee for St. Francis employees.
