CAPE GIRARDEAU - Southeast Missouri Hospital said farewell to six of its own Thursday as a bright yellow ribbon was placed on the flag pole in front of the hospital complex.
The six members of the hospital's medical staff are being deployed for military duty as part of Operation Desert Shield in the Persian Gulf. One of them, Staff Sergeant H. Charles Mosebach, a licensed practical nurse on one of the hospital's general medical units, left shortly after Christmas for duty with the Army Reserve.
The others who are leaving this month belong to the local U.S. Navy Reserve medical unit based in Cape Girardeau.
They are: Ensign Richard Kinsey, a registered nurse in the hospital's Cardiac Catheterization Lab for the past two years and an employee at Southeast since 1983; Petty Officer First Class Norman Anderson, the hospital's laboratory technical supervisor; Petty Officer First Class Vincent Glueck, a senior medical technician with the hospital's radiology department since 1982; and Petty Officer Second Class Brenda Taul, of Sikeston, a nurse on the hospital's Stress Unit for eight years.
All will report to Fort Dix, N.J., on Jan. 8 for final briefing and processing before leaving for the Persian Gulf. The local Naval Reserve members are part of a 970-member fleet hospital unit that has been called to active duty.
"We're very proud of these individuals," said Richard Meyer, assistant hospital administrator, as he tied the large yellow ribbon around the flag pole.
"These members of our hospital family are facing great personal and professional challenges, and we wish them well. They will be in our hearts and prayers."
