The Southeast Missouri Hospital Association honored 10 organizations for promoting health care in the community by sponsoring or aiding in projects coordinated by the hospital.
The special awards were presented during Wednesday night's annual dinner at the Show Me Center:
Cape Girardeau County Area Medical Society for its aggressive physician recruitment program;
Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center for its partnership with Southeast and St. Francis Medical Center and the state in establishing a Primary Care Clinic for indigent and low-income children;
KFVS-12 for its involvement with Buddy Check 12, a program that encourages women to perform regular breast self-exams;
Main Street Fitness in Jackson for its work in bringing public fitness service and Southeast wellness programs to Jackson;
Mercantile Bank of Cape Girardeau, Schnucks and the Southeast Missouri Area Agency on Aging for their work with Southeast in sponsoring Senior Fun Fest;
Southeast Missourian for coverage of health care news on Saturday's Health Page;
Southeast Missouri Council on the Arts for its work with Southeast's "Art for the Health of It," exhibit;
And, the West Park Mall for its involvement with Kids Bee Fit, an exercise and healthy lifestyle program for children.
