Steve Hornbeak, keyboard player for the Lee Greenwood Band, will make special appearances at the Country Music Hall near McClure, Ill., and Legends nightclub in Cape Girardeau on Aug. 30.
Cheryl Bowman, who handles publicity for the two clubs, said Hornbeak will perform several songs at each club. He will first appear at the Country Music Hall and then perform at Legends after 9 p.m., Bowman said.
Hornbeak is a native of Tamms, Ill., and a graduate of Egyptian High School. He began playing in Greenwood's band about two years ago. Along with keyboards, he sings backup vocals.
In an interview early this year, Hornbeak told the Southeast Missourian he someday wanted to begin a solo career.
Hornbeak has co-written songs with Greenwood and other band members. He began his career in Cape Girardeau while still in high school with the band, The Runaways.
He stayed with the band for three years and then moved to Florida to become a member of the Southland Band. He also played with Mosaic.
It was while on the road with Mosaic that Hornbeak first met Greenwood. Several months later he was playing in his band.
The Lee Greenwood Band is scheduled to perform at the DuQuoin State Fair Aug. 31 with the Statler Brothers. The show begins at 8 p.m.
Ticket information for Greenwood and other state fair shows can be obtained by calling 1-800-488-7000 or 618-542-2056.
