A Cape Girardeau man pleaded guilty Monday in Cape Girardeau County Circuit Court to first-degree attempted robbery.
Ivory C. Alexander, 19, was charged in connection with a home-invasion robbery at 143 S. Spanish St., in which resident John Murphy was shot.
In exchange for his guilty plea, other related charges were dismissed. A presentence investigation was ordered by Judge John Heisserer and sentencing was set for Aug. 4.
Police said Alexander and Cornelius Johnson, 21, broke into Murphy's home Aug. 5 and shot him in the upper arm before fleeing.
Police believe Johnson fired the gun. He still faces charges for burglary, assault, armed criminal action and attempted robbery. His jury trial is set for July 29.
He pleaded guilty in August 1999 to burglary and stealing a motor vehicle.
