CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Northern Illinois University percussionist Richard Holly will perform a recital Wednesday at Southeast Missouri State University.

The recital will begin at 8:15 p.m. in Academic Auditorium. It is free and open to the public.

Holly is a nationally-known marimbaist, set drummer and recitalist. While on campus Holly will present lectures and demonstrations on West African, Cuban and Brazilian drumming to music and university studies students.

Assisting in the recital will be members of the Southeast Percussion Ensemble directed by Daniel Dunavan, associate professor of music.

Included will be works of J.S. Bach, Isaac Albeniz, Claire Musser and Josef Zawinul. A second performance will include the premier of a marimba work, "Quartiles for Marimba," composed for Holly by Sterling P. Cossaboom, chairman of the music department at Southeast.

Holly holds degrees from the State University of New York at Potsdam and East Carolina University. He has performed with the North Carolina Symphony, the Long Island Holiday Festival Orchestra, the Eglevsky Ballet Company Orchestra and the Greeley Philharmonic.
