Cape Girardeau's Holidy of Lights will return to the County Park Nov. 23, 1994 through Jan. 3, 1995.
The traditional lighting ceremony will take place Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 6 p.m.
The public is welcome to participate in the Holiday of Lights. There is no charge. Those who participate should complete two forms available at the Arts Council office. One of the forms may be obtained at the County Park office for conact information in case of damage to a display.
Electrical hookups and security will be provided by the Cape County Park Board. Displays may be simple lighted trees or elaborate holiday scenes constructed out of weather-resistent materials. Cardboard, paper or posterboard would not qualify.
In keeping with the spirit of Holiday of Lights, no commercial promotion is permitted. Signs for sponsoring individuals, organizations or businesses must be 12 x 18 and white with red lettering.
County Park Superintendent Chet McCain will help with a location for displays. Those who participated last year will be placed in the same location. Display set-up will begin November 14. Park personnel will be available Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 19.. Security will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 23.
The lights will be left on each evening until all of the visitors are gone, which is usually 11 p.m. The display will end on Tuesday, January 3, 1995. Displays will be removed by Jan. 13, 1995.
