The Holiday Inn West Park at Cape Girardeau recently received new, worldwide recognition: the "Quality Excellence Award."
"This award is bestowed on hotels which have achieved excellence in all aspects of their operations," said Dan Drury, vice president of MidAmerica Hotels headquartered in Cape Girardeau, which owns the motel. "The award is presented to the top 150 Holiday Inns in the entire system of more than 1,400 inns worldwide."
Drury accepted the award recently during the Holiday Inn Worldwide Franchise Conference held at San Diego, Calif.
"Hotels have to meet high standards in all hotel areas, from customer satisfaction to product quality," said Drury. "Curb appeal and exterior appearances weigh heavily with the Quality Excellence Committee."
Just one customer complaint would have nullified any chance for selection, said Drury. A special Customer Service Tracking System is utilized by Holiday Inn to contact guests by telephone or mail for their comments on their stay at the inn.
"All of these comments have to be favorable," said Drury.
"We're proud of this award," said Drury. "The entire staff of the Holiday Inn worked hard for the honor, and it's a great tribute to our staff."
The new Holiday Inn award replaces all previous awards. The final selections are determined by a committee of corporate senior management of Holiday Inns Worldwide Inc.
