Hoboes will abound at the St. Louis Iron Mountain and Southern Railway the week of Oct. 30 through Nov. 7. Hoboes from all over America will meet at the Jackson-based depot throughout the week. They will camp on the depot grounds sharing their adventures with each other as well as with anyone who has ever been curious about a care-free life on the rails...

Hoboes will abound at the St. Louis Iron Mountain and Southern Railway the week of Oct. 30 through Nov. 7. Hoboes from all over America will meet at the Jackson-based depot throughout the week. They will camp on the depot grounds sharing their adventures with each other as well as with anyone who has ever been curious about a care-free life on the rails.

On Saturday, Nov. 6, and Sunday, Nov. 7, they will ride the St. Louis Iron Mountain, where they will share their lives as hoboes. As a special treat, there will be hobo stories, poetry, and music aboard the excursions. On Saturday, train excursions are at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. At 4 p.m. a Hobo Dinner train will leave Saturday night, featuring Hobo Stew (a meal fit for kings on a pauper's budget) as the main course. Hobo Days will continue on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Among the hoboes that will be living their week in Jackson, will be the 1996 King of Hoboes, Liberty Justice of Kansas City, as well as Begone Norm, "Backwoods Jack" Sophir, and folk singer, Fred Starner of California.

The St. Louis Iron Mountain and Southern Railway would like to invite you to stop by the depot during the week and visit with their special guests as well as riding with the hoboes on the weekend excursions. Please call for reservations for all of the train excursions.

Fall Foliage excursionsThe St. Louis, Iron Mountain & Southern Railway will also hold special Fall Foliage Excursions.

These leisurely journeys on the old-fashioned train will include a home style breakfast, as well as beautiful fall foliage. The train will stop along the way for photo opportunities. Available dates are Oct. 31, Nov. 7 and Nov. 14, all at 9 a.m. Space is limited so reservations should be made early.
