Traffic restricted for road work near Wickliffe

WICKLIFFE, Ky. -- Traffic will be restricted to one lane at the intersection of U.S. 51, U.S. 60 and U.S. 62 in Ballard County, Ky., beginning Monday. Work will require traffic to be restricted to one lane with traffic controlled by a temporary automated signal as a contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet places new concrete pavement in the intersection and along the approaches. The traffic signal will configured to allow one lane of traffic to move at a time. This is the T intersection where eastbound traffic from Illinois and Missouri for U.S. 60 turns left toward LaCenter and Paducah, Ky., and where southbound traffic for U.S. 51 and eastbound traffic for U.S. 62 turns right toward Bardwell, Ky. This work is expected to be complete by the time repair work is completed on the U.S. 51 Ohio River Bridge. The U.S. 51/U.S. 60/U.S. 60 Ohio River Bridge between Wickliffe, Ky., and Cairo, Ill., is restricted to a 7 feet maximum vehicle width, a 19 feet maximum vehicle length, and no trailers are allowed through until about Sept. 14. This essentially restricts the bridge to passenger vehicles and standard pickup trucks for the duration of the project.
