High winds close Dorena-Hickman ferry

Southeast Missourian ~ The Dorena-Hickman Ferry is closed today because of high winds.

Winds from the northwest in the 20 mph range included gusts of 40 mph.

Captain Ed Floyd anticipates the ferry will open on the regular winter schedule Thursday morning.

The Dorena-Hickman Ferry connects KY 1354 at Hickman, Ky., with Missouri Route A and Route 77 near Dorena, Mo., about 70 miles south of Cape Girardeau.
