CAIRO, Ill. -- Preliminary hearings have been set for the two men charged with arsons in Cairo. According to documents on file with the Alexander County circuit clerk's office, Richard Scott Pitcher, 18, of Cairo, and David Patrick, 22, of Arlington, Ky., will go before judge Charles Cavaness at 9 a.m. July 27. Pitcher and Patrick were members of the auxiliary fire department in Cairo, which is separate from the city's fire department. The each face two counts of arson. Court documents say the men are responsible for fires on 33rd Street in Cairo and others near the Mississippi River levee in January.
