BENTON, Mo. -- A preliminary hearing has been set for 1 p.m. Oct. 5 for a Benton couple accused of operating a marijuana growing operation in their home.
William Russell, 57, and Karla Russell, 55, both of rural Benton, are each charged with two counts of both manufacturing a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were arraigned Wednesday before Judge Scott Horman.
Deputies searched their property last month and seized 21 plants, according to a news release. Officers also reportedly found vacuum-packed marijuana inside the home, paraphernalia, potting soil, watering devices and marijuana seeds.
