The Cape Girardeau County Pubic Health Center has run out of one type of TDaP vaccine it had offered at no charge but still has a limited supply of a second type.
Doses of Adacel were provided by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services through a one-time funding opportunity, according to an email from health center director Jane Wernsman. Adacel is for 11- to 64-year-olds and is available at no cost at the health center through September.
The health center also had a limited supply of Boostrix for those 65 and older available at no charge; that supply has been exhausted, Wernsman said.
The Boostrix TDaP vaccine still is available at a cost of $45, as Medicare traditionally does not pay for this immunization, Wernsman wrote. Supplemental insurance may not cover the cost of immunizations.
The health center can assist in identifying alternative funding sources if the $45 proves to be a financial hardship, Wernsman wrote.
