JACKSON -- A Children's Health Carnival, which mixes fun with learning, will be held May 3 at the St. Francis Information Center in Jackson.
"Our goal is to make the afternoon so enjoyable that the kids won't even realize they're learning good health habits," said Kathy Casteel, community education instructor at the information center.
The festivities begin at 1 p.m. and continue until 4 p.m. Approximately 400 children took part in the carnival last year.
Among screenings available at the carnival will be height and weight, hearing and "lazy eye testing for preschool children. Displays and demonstrations will focus on dental health, fire and home safety, first aid, smoking hazards, bicycle safety, nutrition, poison prevention, drug and alcohol abuse and conservation awareness.
