HAYTI HEIGHTS, Mo. -- A Hayti Heights teen will be tried as an adult in the alleged robbery of another local man.
According to Pemiscot County Sheriff Tommy Greenwell, Dewayne Woods, 16, has been certified as an adult and formally charged with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.
Greenwell said the charges stem from a June 5 robbery in the area of South Martin Luther King Drive in Hayti Heights in which an 89-year-old was assaulted and robbed. During the course of the investigation, it was learned that about $250 in cash was taken during the robbery.
Woods went through a certification process in juvenile court June 21 and was certified as an adult and placed in the Pemiscot County Justice Center. He is being held on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear before Judge Byron Luber today for arraignment.
Greenwell said additional charges are expected to be filed at a later date.
