A combine caught fire around 11:30 a.m. Friday in a cornfield between Gordonville and Cape Girardeau near County Road 203. Gordonville firefighters employed one pumper, one bus truck and one tanker to put out the fire, according to John Peters of the Gordonville Fire Department. The driver of the combine was able to jump off uninjured when the machinery caught fire, and the cause is still unknown, Peters said. The damage to the field was minimal. (Kit Doyle)
