Hard year for three families
After her divorce, Mom has been stuck with paying off all the bills. Another Mom is back in school while her husband, who is out of work, takes care of their daughter. A third Mom gets no child support for her three children and works part-time while the children are in school. There is no extra money for Christmas. What do these parents have in common? They simply request books and art supplies for their children to learn and play. Like the 1,200 children ages 1-12, being served locally by Toybox this year you can help make a meaningful Christmas! Please bring new toys to any of the Toybox locations, including the Southeast Missourian. Or you can make a monetary donation to Toybox, P.O. Box 4, Cape Girardeau, MO, 63702. The blessings you bestow, return to you in kind. For all of our needy Toybox families here are some popular requests: Board games, race cars, trucks, dolls, learning toys, puzzles, books, Hannah Montana, Spiderman, balls, drawing materials, Dora Explorer, Indiana Jones, High School Musical items.
Mrs. T, 91 lives with her brother, 87
Mrs. T is a small woman with poor eyesight. She receives a small Social Security check. She fixes simple meals for herself and her brother. She isn't expecting anything for Christmas. These few items would be most welcomed: bathrobe and sleeping gowns, size small, house dresses size small, comfortable shoes size 5 1/2, gloves small, kitchen towels, sheets and comforter full size. This would make her Christmas truly bright! You can help Mrs. T and other needy elderly people in our area, by buying these needed items, including personal grooming and cleaning supplies, grocery gift cards and delivering to The Southeast Missourian. Or make a monetary donation to Christmas for the Elderly, P.O. Box 4, Cape Girardeau, MO 63702. All elderly served are living independently on limited incomes with few, if any family members. They would appreciate your sharing spirit.
