Dr. Joseph Preston, a former Southeast Missouri State University history professor, will return to the campus March 23 to lecture on the "Gunpowder Plot."
Preston, emeritus professor of history at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich., will discuss the traditions surrounding the famous plot to blow up the English parliament in 1605.
Preston is this year's visiting scholar for the Harold Holmes Dugger Lecture Series.
The lecture will be held at 7 p.m. in the Missouriana-Indian Room at the University Center.

The cost is $10 a person. Reservations must be made by March 17.
During his visit, Preston will conduct a workshop on analyzing 17th century English documents. The workshop is funded by Southeast's School of University Studies.
