The Citizen Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms announced that Rodney W. Gaskill of Jackson was selected to receive a Citizen of Year Award.
Gaskill was selected for the award because of his dedication to the efforts to preserve the right of the people to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment of the Constitution, committee officials said.
Criteria for the award is based on the activities of individual members, such as being active in local, state and national gun rights issues, by writing editors of newspapers, contacting elected officials or appearing for public testimony.
The Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is a national organization with nearly 500,000 members as well as more than 130 members of Congress serving on their National Advisory Council.
