A groundbreaking ceremony to kick off the extension of Route AB in Cape Girardeau County is scheduled for 4 p.m. today. The ceremony will be at the intersection of highways 25 and 77, south of Dutchtown.
The extension of Route AB will include grading and paving. During the project the intersection of highways 25 and 77 at Blomeyer will be reconstructed to include a roundabout. Improvements will connect Highway 25 with Interstate 55.
Several elected officials are scheduled to speak at the event, including U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson, state Rep. Billy Pat Wright and Cape Girardeau County Commissioner Paul Koeper.
The event is open to the public.
