POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center announced Wednesday the official groundbreaking ceremony for the $173 million hospital to be located at the Eight Points Development site in Poplar Bluff will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 6.
"This is truly an exciting time for PBRMC, the community of Poplar Bluff and the entire region we serve," said Greg Carda, chief executive officer of Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
The ceremony will be at the site of the new hospital at the Eight Points development, a 62-acre site at the southwest corner of Oak Grove and Shelby roads. Speakers from the hospital, the city and the business community will make comments, with the ceremony itself to begin about 11:30 a.m.
When completed, the new Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center will be a modern, seven-story hospital offering 250 private patient rooms, enhanced technology, easier accessibility and an expansion of health care services, including emergency room, cardiac care and neurosurgery.
Parking for the public will be in the First Community Bank parking lot. Shuttles will be available to transport guests to the groundbreaking site.
