JACKSON -- The 13th annual Grindstaff Family Reunion will be held June 14 at Jackson City Park, shelter 1.

The reunion begins at 10 a.m. and continues until 4 p.m. Members of the Grindstaff family and friends are invited.

A group photograph will be taken at 11:30 a.m. A potluck dinner will be served at noon. Those attending are asked to bring table service, drinks and lawn chairs.

In addition, those attending may bring family photographs and documents. Edith Anderson, who has been researching the family since 1983, will have some of her research findings available.

The reunion is for all descendants of Jacob (1790-1867) and Christina (1794/1802-1875) Grindstaff. The Grindstaffs and four of their nine children moved to Missouri from North Carolina. Grindstaff purchased his first land in 1826 in what is now in Bollinger County.

Jacob and Christina's nine children were David, Peter, Susannah, Elizabeth, William, Jacob Jr., Christina, Anna or Hannah, and Polly.

At the time of his death in 1867, Grindstaff willed his bay mare, Jane, $320 in gold or silver, the crops growing, the grain, meat and groceries on hand to his wife. The balance of his estate was divided between his wife and children.

When Christina died in 1875, her inventory was listed as $327.25 in gold, silver and paper money, a walnut table, eight chairs, one lamp, one clock, two bedsteads, three quilts, two feather beds, two kegs, sausage grinder and stuffer, two ovens, three skillets, one bull, one cow, two calves, two steers, one gray horse four shoats, four butcher knives and other items.
