  • Today: The Southeast Green Coalition, a student environmental group, will conduct a campuswide cleanup this afternoon. Participants will meet at 5 p.m. on the terraces at Academic Hall on the Southeast Missouri State University campus, form groups and for two hours work on collecting trash and other campus cleanup efforts.

* Saturday: The Jackson Public Works Department will host an e-cycle event at the city recycling center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 508 Eastview Court. Midwest Recycling Center will accept most electronic devices, including computers, cameras and printers as well as other large items including refrigerators, water heaters and washers. There is a $10 charge to dispose of computer monitors and a $15 charge to dispose of televisions. Items from anyone living in Cape Girardeau County will be accepted. * Sunday: Mississippi River Radio is sponsoring a 2009 Get Green event from noon to 6 p.m. at Arena Park. The event includes demonstrations of environmentally friendly actions, children's activities and other educational programs.
