GRASSY -- Pickin' by the River '93, featuring eight bluegrass bands and camping by the Castor River, will be held Thursday through Sunday.
The sponsors emphasize that no alcohol will be allowed on the grounds. They are aiming at a family atmosphere.
The bands include the Tennessee Gentlemen (Friday and Saturday), Bill Jones & the Ozark Travelers (Saturday and Sunday), Breakaway (Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Clearwater Grass (Saturday and Sunday), the Sitze Family (Thursday and Friday), the Shade Tree Pickers (Thursday), the Black Mountain Boys (Thursday and Friday) and the Baileys and Friends, (Thursday Friday and Saturday).
The grounds are located 45 miles west of Cape Girardeau along Highway 34, then 1.4 miles south on County Road Y.
The stage shows begin at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, at 1 and 6 p.m. Saturday, and begin with gospel music at 10 a.m. Sunday.
Admission is $8 per day and free on Sunday. A weekend pass is $25. Children under 12 will be admitted free.
Camping is $8 for the weekend or $6 per night.
